Thousands of new students at the University of Wisconsin–Madison began their academic year with a convocation ceremony. The event marked the start of the school year and welcomed incoming students to campus.

The convocation is part of broader efforts by UW–Madison to integrate new students into university life and highlight the institution’s impact on the state. According to recent data from the Wisconsin Idea Database, UW–Madison has demonstrated significant benefits across all 72 counties in Wisconsin, including positive effects on education, healthcare, and workforce development. More information about these statewide impacts can be found at https://widata.wisc.edu/.

The convocation and related events are among several initiatives designed to connect students with resources and foster a sense of community as they begin their studies.
