On Thursday, President Trump announced that the United States has reached a trade agreement with the United Kingdom. This deal is significant as it marks the first accord since the U.S. paused reciprocal tariffs to aim for reduced trade barriers. The United Kingdom stands as America’s fifth-largest export market, and this agreement aims to fortify economic relations between the two nations while promoting fair trade practices globally.

Kurt Bauer, President and CEO of Wisconsin Manufacturers & Commerce (WMC), expressed support for the agreement. He stated, “Securing this landmark agreement with the UK is an important step forward for American manufacturers and workers.” Bauer emphasized that strengthening ties with a key partner like the UK helps alleviate economic uncertainty and provides Wisconsin manufacturers with clarity and stability necessary for long-term growth planning.

Bauer also commended President Trump on achieving an agreement that enhances the economic environment in which businesses operate. He added, “WMC applauds President Trump for delivering an agreement that strengthens our economic landscape, and we look forward to similar deals to come.”
