The Wisconsin Natural Resources Board will meet in person on April 15 to consider proposed rulemaking documents and other matters, according to an announcement on Apr. 1. The meeting is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. in public meeting room G09 at the State Natural Resources Building (GEF 2), located at 101 South Webster Street, Madison.
The board plans to act on several agenda items, including emergency orders related to elk hunting license drawings and establishing the migratory bird season framework for 2026-2030. Other topics include proposed changes to bag and possession limits for round goby and other species, approval of the North Central Forest Regional Master Plan, land acquisition for Fish Lake Wildlife Area in Burnett County, and recommendations regarding laboratory accreditation program fees.
Public participation is encouraged both through watching the meeting via the Department of Natural Resources’ YouTube channel and by providing testimony or written comments. The deadline for registering testimony or submitting comments is April 8 at 11 a.m., with opportunities available both remotely via Zoom and in person during the session.
The board will also present awards such as Laboratory of the Year and Rebecca Wallace awards, receive a presentation on forest management practices on DNR lands, and hear an overview of the Wisconsin Initiative on Climate Change Impacts (WICCI) 2026 Assessment Report.
According to the official website, the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources manages state parks, trails, forests, wildlife areas, offers hunting and fishing licenses along with environmental permits, enforces environmental laws across Wisconsin’s natural resources statewide for current and future generations. The department also facilitates public input through advisory councils and comment periods when considering new rules.
