U.S. Rep. Mark Pocan (D-Wisc.) voted against a bill to deport illegal aliens who have been convicted of driving while drunk or impaired.

Pocan joined 150 House Democrats in voting against H.R. 6976, which was introduced by U.S. Rep. Barry Moore (R-Ala.) The bill passed the House on a vote of 274-150. Pocan and U.S. Rep. Gwen Moore (D-Wisc.) were the only two members of the Wisconsin congressional delegation to vote against the bill.

“Illegal migrants who’ve trespassed into our country and then commit additional crimes need to be deported immediately," Steve Cortes, founder of the League of American Workers (LAW), told Madison Reporter. “Drunk driving is a serious offense that leads to tremendous pain and suffering for American citizens.

"But the Democrats would rather prioritize criminal illegal aliens than protect Americans," said Cortes.

Cortes is a political advisor and commentator. He previously traded global currencies and interest rates for 25 years for large international hedge funds. He has been an on-air broadcaster for CNBC, Fox News, and CNN. Cortes founded LAW in 2022 to conduct research and develops proposals on public policies impacting American workers and the economy.
