MONONA GROVE SCHOOL DISTRICT: June is Pride Month!

Lgbtq

Monona Grove School District issued the following announcement on June 1.

June is Pride Month! Celebrating Pride means promoting self-affirmation, dignity, and equal rights for all. MGSD is committed to supporting community members of all identities and recognizes the importance of centering voices that have historically been left out of our conversations.

This updated version of the classic Rainbow Flag was crafted by graphic designer Daniel Quasar in 2018, who is both genderqueer and non-binary. The flag was designed to include the progressive More Pride More Color colors and the Transgender Pride Flag colors. In addition, the chevron style of the new colors represents forward movement and social progress that still needs to be made to bring equality and end all discrimination of LGBT communities. This flag recognizes intersections within the LGBTQ+ community and honors LGBTQ+ people of color as well as different gender identities.
