The City of Madison is bringing the heat with temperatures headed into the 90s as elite athletes compete in the Cross Fit Games, the fourth time Madison has hosted the event.
More than 600 athletes from around the world will compete in the Cross Fit Games in Madison this weekend for a chance to win $2.5 million and be the fittest on earth, the Wisconsin State Journal reported.
"The fittest athletes in the entire world are here, in Madison, Wisconsin, and they're going to be tested in over 15 different events that are all very different: Weightlifting, gymnastics, sprinting events," Justin Berg, Cross Fit VP of Sport and Partnership, said in a video posted on the Wisconsin State Journal's website. "At the end of the weekend we'll crown the fittest man and woman on earth."
This will be one of the biggest events in Madison in the past two years, and the biggest Cross Fit games it has seen in its four years of hosting them, with over 10,000 spectators expected each of the six days, the Wisconsin State Journal reported.
According to the same article, the event is not only a competition, but a social event and celebration for many athletes, families, friends and fans.
Live standings and info on all the athletes are posted on Cross Fit’s website.
