The Goodman Community Center in Madison recently announced it will host two separate events on Sept. 10 and Sept. 16 to officially welcome Latesha Nelson as their new CEO, according to a report by Madison365.
Nelson will be joined by Angela Russell, VP of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion at CUNA Mutual Group and host of the Black Oxygen podcast, on Sept. 10 and Brenda Gonzalez, director of Community Relations at UW-Madison, on Sept. 16.
"Welcome to Madison and the Goodman Community Center Latesha Nelson," Madison Mayor Satya Rhodes Conway stated on Twitter. "She's spent the last seven months getting to know staff, volunteers and families, and is excited to meet some neighbors, community members and supporters in person."
Nelson also stated in an interview that she has several ideas for expanding the Goodman Center, increasing community participation and improving life for all residents.
Before coming to Goodman, Nelson began her nonprofit career with the Girls Scouts, she later advanced to a leadership position in Utah and then to a family organization in Tennessee.
