Pre-orders of compost bins through the Madison compost bin truckload sale in October are being taken before Friday, Oct. 15.
The sale, hosted by RainReserve, will be held from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, Oct. 23, at the Garver Feed Mill, 3241 Garver Green, where pickup of pre-orders will be possible, a press release said.
Because a limited supply of compost bins is available, pre-ordering is suggested to guarantee availability, the website of RainReserve said. Rain barrel diverter kits (buy your own barrel), will also be available. Compost bins, containers to place organic waste, are available at discounted prices with no shipping added.
“This sale is being held in an effort to support @CityofMadison’s food waste goals and yard waste management efforts,” Madison Mayor Satya Rhodes-Conway said in a tweet on Twitter.
A Food Waste Resolution resolved in part that the City of Madison would “work to provide leadership, funding and programmatic resources to support food waste diversion efforts to meet renewable energy goals and advance sustainable food systems.” Properly managing yard waste can protect lakes, the City of Madison Streets & Recycling website said.
Pre-orders may be placed at the website www.rainreserve.com/madison, the City of Madison Streets & Recycling website said.
