City of Sun Prairie recently issued the following announcement.
Cases increased during this 14-day period with an average of 110 cases per day.
On average, 54 out of the 110 cases each day were among people who are not vaccinated. The number of people hospitalized with COVID in Dane County hospitals was stable, with an average of 74 people hospitalized with COVID-19 in Dane County hospitals each day. We are not able to discern whether these hospitalizations are among Dane County residents or among patients transferred to the Dane County hospitals from the surrounding areas. Percent positivity was 3.4% and an average of 3,232 tests were conducted per day. Because percent positivity has been holding steady and has remained under 5%, this is a good indication that we’re testing at the level we need to in order to find cases.
We have not received updated vaccination data since 11/5 due to data reporting errors experienced by the Wisconsin Department of Health Services , so the vaccination data on pages 1 and 2 has not been updated since last week. We are also unable to provide an updated number of booster/third doses or doses administered to 5-11 year olds. We anticipate being able to provide this data next week.
Dane County currently has the second lowest case rate and second lowest percent positivity out of all 72 counties in the state.
Case rates among Dane County residents are lower than case rates in Wisconsin for each age group, and the difference is largest among ages 12-17; case rates among ages 12-17 are 3.5 times higher in Wisconsin overall than in Dane County.
Dane County case rates compared to WI case rates for each age group are as follows:
- Age 0-4: WI has 1.4x higher case rate than Dane County
- Age 5-11: WI has 1.8x higher case rate than Dane County
- Age 12-17: WI has 3.5x higher case rate than Dane County
- Age 18-24: WI has 2.0x higher case rate than Dane County
- Age 25-44: WI has 2.0x higher case rate than Dane County
- Age 45-64: WI has 1.8x higher case rate than Dane County
- Age 65+: WI has 1.9x higher case rate than Dane County
The age-adjusted rate of cases during this 14-day period was 1,264.7 per 100,000 not fully vaccinated residents, which is 7.5 times higher than the rate of 169.2 per 100,000 fully vaccinated residents. Not fully vaccinated people ages 12-17 had a case rate of 726.5 per 100,000, which is 10 times higher than the case rate for fully vaccinated people ages 12-17, which is 72.4: the lowest rate among all age groups.
