The University of Wisconsin (UW) Badgers women's volleyball team has advanced to the Final Four in the NCAA tournament.
Their recent victory over the No. 12 ranked Minnesota Golden Gophers means the UW women’s volleyball team will be going the Final Four for a third consecutive year, according to Bucky's 5th Quarter. The Badgers swept the Gophers by 25-18, 26-24, 25-22, and have currently won every set in the NCAA tournament.
"Pretty cool exchange between Wisconsin players that the cameras caught. After missing the match point swing you can see @dana_rettke tell her setter @sydneyhilley 'Hey set me this ball, I got you' and that’s exactly what she did to send her team to the Final Four," Rachel Dunlap wrote in a Dec. 11 Twitter post.
Super seniors Dana Rettke and Sydney Hilley led the team to victory, with Hilley being named Most Outstanding Player in the Regional, according to Wisconsin State Journal.
“On getting the MVP, when a setter gets that honor, it’s such a reflection of who she has around her, the ball control and the hitters. They made me look good,” Hilley said, Wisconsin State Journal reports.
The No. 4 ranked Badgers will next face No. 1 ranked Louisville Cardinals in Columbus, Ohio.
