Business owners inside the Clock Tower Court mall have had their front doors damaged as a result of a series of burglaries, according to an NBC report.
The owner of The Skin & Co., Kelly Scheinkoenig, captured one of the break-ins on her security camera and said it was difficult to watch.
“It’s super violating to watch them rummage through your things and steal your items,” Scheinkoenig said.
According to the Madison Police Department, Scheinkoenig's shop was one of nine targeted in a series of break-ins.
“I’m not alone,” Scheinkoenig said. “I just feel bad for everybody in the building that has gone through this.”
Lisa Olson, owner of The Ultimate Touch Nail Studio for 30 years, described the break-ins as "disheartening."
“It just feels very violating to get a call in the middle of the night,” Olson said, adding that it is difficult for her small business to endure another hardship.
“We’ve fought through the pandemic," Olson said. "We’ve struggled to get through that and came through the other side and things were just starting to get better and now this; it’s heartbreaking.”
The Burglary Crime Unit of the Madison Police Department is investigating what was stolen from the establishments, as well as the extent of any property damage.
