The University of Wisconsin–Madison's graduate programs continue to shine as they secure top positions in the 2024-25 edition of U.S. News & World Report’s “Best Graduate Schools.” Among the notable achievements is the School of Education claiming the first spot overall in the country, alongside Teacher’s College, Columbia University.

Provost and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, Charles Lee Isbell Jr., expressed pride in the recognition, stating, "Our graduate programs have a long legacy of providing world-class education and our graduate students are a key component of our innovative research success."

Dean of the School of Education, Diana Hess, attributed the success to the collaborative efforts of faculty, staff, and students, noting, “The No. 1 ranking for our School of Education is a testament to innovative work being done by our talented faculty, staff, and students.”

William J. Karpus, the dean of UW–Madison’s Graduate School, emphasized the institution's commitment to offering students research opportunities that prepare them for leadership roles in various fields, stating, “We offer our students research opportunities and experiences that prepare them to be thought leaders in a wide range of disciplines.”

In addition to the School of Education's achievement, other UW–Madison programs also excelled in the rankings. The Computer Science program secured the 13th position, Social Work ranked 20th, and Public Affairs ranked 23rd. These accomplishments reflect the university's dedication to academic excellence and research innovation.

As U.S. News continues its evaluation process, certain program rankings have been delayed for Best Medical Schools, Best Engineering Schools, and Best Clinical Psychology Programs. The publication assured that updates regarding these rankings will be provided once queries from graduate schools under review are appropriately addressed.

The University of Wisconsin–Madison remains committed to providing top-tier education and research opportunities for its students, as evidenced by its consistent presence at the forefront of national rankings.
