UW–Madison’s new programs and research highlight impact across Wisconsin

The University of Wisconsin–Madison has been recognized for its wide-ranging influence across the state, according to new data from the Wisconsin Idea Database. The database highlights the university's connections and contributions to all 72 counties in Wisconsin, reflecting impacts on students, local communities, health care, and the workforce. A recent clinical trial at UW–Madison has enabled kidney transplant patients to live without daily anti-rejection medication. This advancement marks a significant step forward in patient care and medical research at the university.

In efforts to address physician shortages in rural areas, the UW School of Medicine and Public Health is graduating its first student from an accelerated program designed to train doctors more quickly for service in underserved parts of Wisconsin.

Additionally, UW–Madison continues to attract top students nationwide. One recent student chose UW–Madison over offers from 15 other leading colleges due to its academic reputation, supportive campus community, and strong financial aid package.
