UW seniors finally got the prom they missed in high school due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The event, organized by the UW–Madison Class of 2024 Senior Class Office, brought together over 1,000 students at the Wisconsin Institute for Discovery. MK Denton, a senior class member and photo intern for University Communications, captured the essence of the long-awaited event through her lens.

Reflecting on the significance of the prom, Denton shared her own experience of missing out on her high school prom in 2020 due to the pandemic. She expressed her disappointment at not being able to partake in the traditional celebration with friends. However, the UW–Madison Class of 2024 Senior Prom provided Denton and her classmates with a chance to make up for lost time and create new memories.

Denton documented the event, capturing moments of joy, celebration, and togetherness among the seniors. She highlighted the sentiments expressed by her peers, emphasizing how the prom symbolized a reclaiming of what was lost to the pandemic. One senior mentioned that the event felt like a true celebration of class unity and moving past the negative impact of the past years.

The photos taken by Denton showcased various moments from the prom, including seniors posing, dancing, and coming together as a class. The images captured the essence of the long-awaited celebration and the joy experienced by the seniors at finally getting the prom they had missed in high school.
