Public Health Madison & Dane County continues to investigate the confirmed case of measles in Dane County. The investigation identified two locations where people may have been exposed to measles.

According to Public Health Madison & Dane County, the first location is "uBreakiFix 2810 E. Washington Ave. Madison, WI Monday, April 22 between (5:00p-7:30p)." The second location is "Noodles & Company 110 Limestone Pass Cottage Grove, WI Monday, April 22 between (5:15p – 7:45p)."

The health department advises individuals who were at these locations during the specified dates and times to monitor themselves for symptoms of measles and check their vaccination status as soon as possible. Measles is highly contagious and can be transmitted through coughing and sneezing. Symptoms typically appear 7 to 14 days after exposure and include fever, cough, runny nose, watery eyes, and a rash.

It is crucial for individuals to stay home and seek medical advice if they develop any of these symptoms to prevent further spread of the virus. The MMR (measles, mumps, rubella) vaccine is highly effective in preventing measles, with two doses required for school entry. Public Health Madison & Dane County offers free vaccines to uninsured adults and children, as well as those with Medical Assistance.

For further updates or additional locations, individuals are encouraged to visit publichealthmdc.com/measles or contact their healthcare provider. Vaccination clinics are available by appointment only and can be scheduled online or by calling (608) 266-4821.
