Mayor Kuhn is inviting high school students to join the City of Middleton committees, offering an opportunity for youth to influence city affairs.

Opportunities are available in the Parks Committee and Arts Committee. The Parks Committee focuses on the development and management of local parks, while the Arts Committee promotes and integrates arts within the city.

Each committee typically meets 1-2 times per month, with each meeting lasting about 2-3 hours. These volunteer positions usually last between 1-3 years.

Responsibilities include attending meetings regularly, acting as a liaison between city staff, the community, and peers, and working collaboratively with other committee members.

To apply, students need to complete a one-page "Board, Commission, and Committee form." Mayor Kuhn will review applications before recommending successful candidates to the common council for approval.

Participation in these committees allows students to influence decisions affecting their city, gain experience in local government, enhance college applications and resumes, and build relationships with city leaders.

"This is more than just volunteer work; it's your chance to help make Middleton a great place to live," said Mayor Kuhn. The city values fresh perspectives from young people and encourages them to apply today.
