The annual Friends of Madison Public Library BIG Book Sale is scheduled for Saturday, June 29, 2024, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The event will take place at the Madison Public Library Service & Support Center located at 1301 W. Badger Road in Madison, regardless of weather conditions. Proceeds from the sale will benefit Madison Public Libraries.
Tom DeChant, President of the Friends of Goodman South Madison Library and one of the coordinators for this year's sale, commented on its significance: “The joint book sale has become a popular annual event for Madison’s book lovers and library supporters alike. Each year, this sale raises thousands of dollars to support Madison’s libraries, and we’re excited to see it continue to grow.”
Books and other items will be restocked throughout the day. From 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., there will be a bag sale where attendees can fill a bag with books for $5 each. Payment methods accepted include cash, check, or credit card.
Prices are set as follows:
- Hardbound books: $2
- Paperback books: $1
- Children's hardbound books: $1
- Children's paperback and board books: $0.50
- CDs, DVDs, and audiobooks on CD: $1
Adding to the event's appeal, Taquitos Marimar Food Truck will be available from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., offering "healthy Mexican" food with local ingredients such as whole wheat tortillas alongside traditional options like tacos, gorditas, tamales, burritos, and quesadillas. Extra parking will be provided at Coakley Relocation Systems' parking lot adjacent to the Library’s Service & Support Center.
Participating groups include those supporting Central Library; Goodman South Madison; Hawthorne; Lakeview; Meadowridge; Monroe Street; and Pinney libraries. Information about becoming a Friends member or volunteering at the sale is available.
