University offers support following downtown shooting

At approximately 12:45 a.m. on Sunday, June 9, multiple people were injured during a shooting at a party at the Lux apartment building, located at 433 W. Johnson, according to Madison Police. None of the injuries are believed to be life-threatening.

None of those injured or involved are known to be affiliated with UW–Madison, as confirmed by UWPD. The university is not currently in session.

The University of Wisconsin–Madison has expressed sympathy and concern for those injured and is offering resources and support to its students who may have been impacted by the incident. It is possible that students or others affiliated with the campus were present in the building or witnessed the scene.

Information about suspects in the incident remains unavailable, and no arrests have been made. Authorities urge anyone with information, photos, or videos from the incident to contact Madison Area Crime Stoppers at 608-266-6014 or online at p3tips.com. Information can be shared anonymously and may qualify for a monetary reward if it leads to an arrest.

UW leaders have also extended their appreciation to first responders from Madison Police, Madison Fire Department, and UWPD who attended the scene. Multiple Off Campus Alerts regarding the incident were sent overnight through the BadgerSafe app.
