The Streets Division will not perform trash, recycling, brush, or large item collection on Monday, September 2, 2024, in observance of the Labor Day holiday. The drop-off sites will also be closed.

If your trash and recycling are collected on Mondays by the Streets Division, you should place your scheduled cart(s) to the curb for collection by 6:30 am on Tuesday, September 3, 2024. If you have a Tuesday collection of trash and recycling by the Streets Division, you should also place your scheduled cart(s) out for emptying by 6:30 am on September 3.

"If you set your carts out after 6:30 am for their scheduled pickup, you may miss your collection opportunity," stated a representative from the Streets Division. "You will need to wait until the next scheduled pickup day to have your carts emptied."

Residents unsure if the holiday will cause their collection to be delayed are advised to check their collection schedule. Schedules can be downloaded by entering an address into the form at www.cityofmadison.com/CollectionSchedule or using the look-up map available on the same site.

Due to the holiday, large item collection will begin on Tuesday, September 3, 2024, for residents who submitted work orders to set out items on Sunday, September 1. A reminder from the division notes that "collection of large items occurs sometime during the work week following the set-out Sunday you select." Crews do not collect items on Sundays or holidays.

The City of Madison drop-off sites will be closed on Monday, September 2 in observance of Labor Day but will reopen for normal operating hours on Tuesday, September 3. Residents are encouraged to verify locations and hours before bringing materials to a site via www.cityofmadison.com/DropOffSites.

Additional information about all of the Streets Division’s recycling and solid waste services is available at www.cityofmadison.com/streets.
