The Streets Division’s final curbside brush collection for 2024 will soon commence. The last date to set out brush varies by neighborhood, with some areas having a final set-out date of September 8, 2024.
After the final curbside pickup, there will be no further scheduled brush collection until spring 2025. Residents can find their specific final set-out date for brush collection at www.cityofmadison.com/brushcollection by entering their address into the form or using the look-up map tool.
Collection occurs during the work week following your designated set-out Sunday. Crews do not collect brush on Sundays and cannot return to neighborhoods to pick up late piles. Brush should be between 18 inches and 8 feet in length, no thicker than 8 inches in diameter, with cut ends facing the same direction. It must be placed at least four feet away from obstructions such as trees, street signs, utility poles, or fire hydrants and should only include limbs and branches from trees, shrubs, and bushes.
If residents miss their final curbside pickup opportunity, they can take the brush to a Streets Division drop-off site after checking locations, hours, and restrictions on the drop-off site website.
Brush collection ends in September to allow time for fall yard waste collection beginning in October. This transition ensures that personnel are available to provide three scheduled curbside leaf and yard waste collections per neighborhood before winter operations begin.
