The Board of Education meeting on August 26, 2024, commenced with the Superintendent's report at 7:20. Dr. Dana Monogue expressed gratitude to the custodial and maintenance staff for their efforts over the summer to prepare the buildings for the new academic year.

At 9:09, Director of Special Education Cindy Malcheski presented the annual seclusion and restraint report for 2023-2024, as mandated by Wisconsin law. The report detailed the district's use of physical restraint and seclusion, which are only employed as a last resort for student safety. Malcheski highlighted that staff received updated training in de-escalation techniques and behavior management strategies through Crisis Prevention Institute's Nonviolent Crisis Intervention program.

Athletic Director Jamie Sims and Assistant Athletic Director/Activities Coordinator Brad Crandell reviewed athletics and activities at Middleton High School and Clark Street Community School at 14:53. They reported a successful year with several state championships, new middle school programs, adaptive sports leagues, plans for a Hall of Fame, and ongoing equity and leadership development efforts.

At 1:00:06, Director Shannon Valladolid led an overview of the Communications Team’s work for 2023-2024. The team focused on strengthening district-community relations, enhancing language accessibility, and improving front desk operations. Their initiatives included expanding interpretation services, launching an athletics podcast, boosting social media engagement, and hiring a bilingual receptionist.

Assistant Superintendent Jerrud Rossing provided an enrollment update at 1:41:02. Since August 12th, there has been an increase of 18 students—5 resident students and 13 open-enrolled students—bringing current enrollment to 7,187 compared to last year's third Friday report of 7,042 students.

Finally, at 1:48:10, the Board approved two items:

1. The agenda and resolutions for the Annual Meeting scheduled for September 16, 2024.

2. An agreement between Middleton-Cross Plains Area School District and Sun Prairie School District to share a physical therapist during the 2024-2025 school year.
