Bring the family to the rooftop of Monona Terrace this Friday, September 13, from 7:30 to 10:00 p.m. for a night of stargazing. Peer through telescopes provided by the Madison Astronomical Society to see the Moon, Saturn, Neptune, and other wonders of the night sky.

In addition to celestial viewing, children can enjoy hands-on activities, educational games, and special prizes. There will also be short presentations about observing the night sky and how to watch for a nova outburst. In case of rain or cloud cover, all activities will be moved indoors.

Program highlights include:

Live Telescope Feed – Weather permitting, the Madison Astronomical Society will have 20 telescopes set up for attendees to observe the Moon and explore other celestial objects.

Kids’ Fun Zone – Children can engage in educational activities such as space bingo, a galaxy toss, constellation geoboard, and more with prizes available.

Observing the Night Sky and Nova Outburst Presentations – Learn how to observe the night sky with your cell phone with Physicist and UW Professor Frank Ranallo and how to watch for a nova outburst with UW Space Place Director Jim Lattis.

This event is free but tickets are required. Reserve your spot at mononaterrace.com. Moon Over Monona Terrace is sponsored by the Madison Astronomical Society.
