The Madison Fire Department invites the public to attend "Firefighter Fun Day," a free event designed for family enjoyment. This year, there are two opportunities to participate.

For the first time, in response to popular demand, Firefighter Fun Day will be held at Fire Station 10 (1517 Troy Drive) on Sunday, September 15, from 1:00-4:00 PM. The event will also take place at Fire Station 9 (201 N. Midvale Boulevard) on Saturday, September 21, from 1:00-4:00 PM.

Both events will feature fire station tours, fire truck tours, free food and refreshments, a live DJ, face painting, and more. New this year is "Sidewalk CPR," an initiative by Madison Fire Department EMTs and paramedics to teach hands-only CPR as part of their mission to equip the community with lifesaving skills.

Street parking is available near both fire stations. All children must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.

Firefighter Fun Day is organized in partnership with Fire Fighters Local 311.

Fire Station 9 has been a neighborhood fixture for over 60 years. Located on the near west side at Midvale Boulevard and Regent Street and embraced by the Sunset Village neighborhood, it features a pollinator garden donated by the Sunset Garden Club and is recognized as an official Monarch Waystation by MonarchWatch.org. The station serves several neighborhoods including Midvale Heights, University Hill Farms, Westmorland, Sunset Hills, and more, plus the Village of Shorewood Hills. It is staffed around the clock by four firefighter/EMTs.

Fire Station 10 serves Madison’s north side neighborhoods such as Brentwood Village, Mendota Hills, Kennedy Heights, Sherman Village among others. Situated across from Warner Park with various symbols of "northside pride," it honors Firefighter/EMT Richard Garner who served there until his death in 2018. Garner’s gear remains on display at Station 10 along with a tree planted in his memory. The station operates 24 hours a day with four firefighter/EMTs and two firefighter/paramedics.
