Fall has arrived, and experts from the University of Wisconsin–Madison are available to discuss various aspects of the season.

Bassam Shakhashiri, professor emeritus of chemistry and director of the Wisconsin Initiative for Science Literacy, is prepared to explain the science behind leaf color changes in autumn. "The chemistry of autumn colors" is his area of expertise. He can be reached at bassam@chem.wisc.edu.

Steve Ackerman, a professor of atmospheric and oceanic sciences and one half of The Weather Guys, can provide insights into the weather conditions that lead to vibrant fall foliage. He can discuss what kind of weather helps leaves turn bold colors like yellow, red, and orange. Ackerman can be contacted at stevea@ssec.wisc.edu.

Paul Koch, a professor in the department of plant pathology specializing in sustainable turfgrass management, offers advice on fall lawn care. His expertise includes lawns, parks, golf courses, and athletic fields. For more tips on lawn care during autumn, Koch is available at plkoch@wisc.edu.
