Fall has arrived, and experts from the University of Wisconsin–Madison are available to discuss various aspects of the season.
Bassam Shakhashiri, professor emeritus of chemistry and director of the Wisconsin Initiative for Science Literacy, is prepared to explain the science behind leaf color changes in autumn. "The chemistry of autumn colors" is his area of expertise. He can be reached at bassam@chem.wisc.edu.
Steve Ackerman, a professor of atmospheric and oceanic sciences and one half of The Weather Guys, can provide insights into the weather conditions that lead to vibrant fall foliage.
