The Middleton-Cross Plains Area School District has once again achieved high rankings in the latest evaluations by Niche.com, a resource known for providing comprehensive information and rankings of educational institutions across the United States. The district's consistent performance is highlighted by its fifth consecutive year as the top school district in the Madison area.

Among its notable accomplishments for 2025, the district was recognized as the best place to teach in Dane County and ranked second among Wisconsin's 421 school districts. It also secured the second position for having the best teachers in Dane County.

Middleton High School was named the best public high school in the Madison area, while Pope Farm Elementary School and Kromrey Middle School were recognized as leading elementary and middle schools respectively. Elm Lawn Elementary School was ranked second among public elementary schools in the region.

Other schools within the district also received commendable rankings. Northside Elementary School placed third, Sunset Ridge Elementary School fourth among public elementary schools, and Glacier Creek Middle School secured third place among middle schools in Madison.

Superintendent Dr. Dana Monogue expressed pride in these achievements: "Our District’s top rankings across so many categories reflect the hard work, dedication, and passion of our teachers, staff, students, and families. At MCPASD, we strive to create an environment that nurtures academic excellence and personal growth, and these rankings are a testament to our success in those areas. We are incredibly proud of our community and these achievements. We remain committed to continuous improvement and providing the best possible education for every student."
