The University of Wisconsin-Madison's Go Big Read program is inviting suggestions for its 2025-26 book selection. The program encourages the campus community to propose titles that address contemporary issues and foster engaging discussions. Suggestions can be submitted on the Go Big Read website until November 13.
The chosen book should be readable, relevant, and well-written, appealing to individuals from diverse backgrounds and experiences. It should also provide enough depth to stimulate discussions from various perspectives and be suitable for integration into academic programs. Ideally, the book would allow for a range of activities and programming and might have a subject or author with ties to Wisconsin.
Following the suggestion period, a review committee will evaluate the books before making recommendations to Chancellor Jennifer L. Mnookin, who will select the final title.
Rebekah Taussig, this year's Go Big Read author, recently visited UW-Madison to discuss her book "Sitting Pretty: The View from My Ordinary Resilient Disabled Body." Previous selections include works by authors such as David McRaney, Clint Smith, Yaa Gyasi, Dave Cullen, Dan Egan, Deborah Blum, and Matthew Desmond.
Go Big Read is an initiative by the Office of the Chancellor aimed at creating a shared reading experience across campus that is both educational and community-focused.
