University honors two employees for advancing inclusivity

Two University of Wisconsin–Madison employees have been recognized by the Universities of Wisconsin for their contributions to fostering a more inclusive environment.

Carolee Dodge Francis, a professor in Civil Society & Community Studies, received the 2024 Outstanding Women of Color in Education Award. This annual award acknowledges faculty, staff, students, or community members who have made significant efforts to advance equity and inclusion for people of color within the Universities of Wisconsin and across communities statewide.

Scott Seyforth, assistant director of residence life for University Housing, was honored with the 2024 Dr. P.B. Poorman Award for Outstanding Achievement on Behalf of LGBTQ+ People. This award is presented annually to LGBTQ+ individuals or their allies who have contributed to creating a safer and more inclusive climate for LGBTQ+ individuals.
