There were 8,358 students enrolled in Sun Prairie Area School District schools in the 2023-24 school year, 0.7% more than the previous year, according to the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction.

Of all the students welcomed in the 2023-24 school year, 52.5% of them were boys, and 47.3% were girls.

Data also shows that most of the students were white, accounting for 55.3% of the Sun Prairie Area School District total enrollment.

Sun Prairie Area School District covers 16 schools within Dane County, with its main office in Sun Prairie.

Among the 16 schools in the Sun Prairie Area School District, Sun Prairie West High School recorded the highest enrollment of 1,333 students in the 2023-24 school year.

Nearly 830,000 students were enrolled in Wisconsin schools in the 2021-22 school year. This is a 0.85% decrease from the year before. In sharp contrast to declining public school figures, enrollment in charter schools rose 4.5% to more than 52,000.

In 2022, there was roughly one teacher for every 14 students in a Wisconsin classroom, compared to the national average of 1:16. AAA State of Play considered Wisconsin to have the 14th best teacher to student ratio in the U.S.
