Alder Nasra Wehelie is set to host a virtual lunch and learn event featuring Water Utility General Manager Krishna Kumar on Thursday, January 23, from 12 to 1 p.m. The session will cover the Madison Customer Assistance Program (MadCAP) and other water quality initiatives aimed at ensuring safe drinking water for all residents of Madison.
The MadCAP program was created to assist customers with low household incomes. By providing necessary relief, it aims to make living in Madison more affordable for low-income residents, following a model similar to that used by many energy companies.
Water utilities play a crucial role in public health, environmental preservation and sustainability, economic development, and community well-being. This event will provide insights into the opportunities and challenges faced by Madison's Water Utility.
Krishna Kumar has been serving as the Water Utility General Manager for the City of Madison since June 2021. Before this role, he was the general manager for Marin Municipal Water Utility and Valley of the Moon Water District in northern California.
The session will include a Q&A segment where attendees can ask questions or give feedback verbally or through chat. Questions can also be submitted in advance to Lorissa Banuelos, Community Engagement Strategist, via email at lbanuelos@cityofmadison.com with "January 23 Lunch and Learn question" as the subject line.
This free event is open to all residents who are encouraged to register in advance at www.cityofmadison.com/LunchandLearnD7. Upon registration, participants will receive login details for joining via computer, smartphone, tablet or telephone.
