UW Health has expanded its services at the John Wall Drive Thru Clinic in Madison to include blood pressure screenings and additional routine immunizations. Patients can now receive care from their vehicles, with access to 17 recommended vaccinations for those aged five and older. These include childhood vaccines like tetanus, whooping cough, measles, and polio.
The clinic continues to offer seasonal vaccinations such as RSV, influenza, and COVID-19. Testing for conditions like strep throat, influenza, COVID-19, and RSV is also available. Patients are advised to consult their primary care provider before testing.
Originally launched during the COVID-19 pandemic, the drive-thru clinic is located at 3819 John Wall Drive and can accommodate up to 150 people daily. Linda Yim, a registered nurse and clinic manager at UW Health John Wall Drive Thru Clinic stated that "the success of the drive-thru model for COVID-19 services motivated clinic staff to explore additional services that can be provided in this setting."
Yim added that patients appreciate "the convenience of being able to stay in their vehicles and make appointments on the weekends," highlighting this as a convenient way for patients to receive necessary care without visiting their primary care clinic.
The drive-thru clinic operates seven days a week from 7:30 a.m. to 4:45 p.m., with appointments recommended for blood pressure checks and vaccinations including influenza and COVID-19 shots. Scheduling can be done via MyChart.
For testing related to COVID-19, influenza, and RSV, patients or their legal guardians should use MyChart accounts. Strep throat testing requires an order from a UW Health provider but does not require a scheduled appointment if documentation is provided.
A full list of available vaccines and tests is accessible on the John Wall Drive Thru Clinic webpage.
