The University of Wisconsin–Madison has been ranked among "America’s Best Large Employers" for 2025, according to a survey conducted by Forbes. The university secured the 199th position on the list, which includes employers with more than 5,000 employees. In total, fifteen employers from Wisconsin were recognized in this year's rankings, with UW–Madison ranking third among them.
Forbes collaborated with an independent market research firm to create the annual list. The rankings are based primarily on survey responses from over 217,000 employees working at U.S. companies that employ more than 1,000 people. Organizations with more than 5,000 employees were classified as large employers.
Survey participants were asked whether they would recommend their employer to others and to rate it based on various criteria. They also had the opportunity to recommend previous employers and those known through industry experience or personal connections.
The survey data was compiled and analyzed alongside additional information collected over the past three years. This approach allowed for a comprehensive assessment of organizations that consistently performed well compared to those with occasional high ratings. More recent data and evaluations from current employees were given greater importance in the analysis.
