Rodney Esser, known affectionately as Mr. Peanuts, has been a custodian at Park Elementary School for 60 years. His contributions to the school have made him a beloved figure among students, staff, and families. Principal Brett Humphrey praised his impact: “Peanuts played an essential role in shaping the identity of Park Elementary... His presence has fostered connections among students, staff, and families.”

Mr. Peanuts reflected on his time at the school: “I have yet to connect with a child who didn’t smile after a high five or a hug and feel good about themselves.” He has received numerous accolades throughout his career, including being a finalist in a national Custodian of the Year contest and recognition at the Midwest Facility Masters Convention.

Despite these honors, Mr. Peanuts remains humble: “I love what I do and I want to pass on the kindness to others I received.” He credits the success of Park School to its remarkable staff.

To celebrate Mr. Peanuts' 60 years of service, an April 26 concert will be held at Middleton High School’s Performing Arts Center featuring musician Mollie B. The event is not only in honor of Mr. Peanuts but also serves as a fundraiser for the MCPASD Education Foundation and music initiatives at Park Elementary School.

Mr. Peanuts expressed his excitement about the event: “I’m delighted to say I’ve known and have worked with Mollie B... I want only the best for my 60-year celebration.” Principal Humphrey added that the concert is more than just music; it is an opportunity for the community to thank Mr. Peanuts through “music, laughter, and togetherness.”

The concert is free to attend with VIP tickets available, and donations are welcome to support fundraising efforts.
