Brandon Maly, chairman of the Dane County Republicans, said that President Trump's commitment to border security has resulted in a significant Joint Statement of Understanding between the United States and Mexico. Maly made this statement to Madison Reporter on February 25.

"Thanks to President Trump's strong border policies and robust ICE operations, the U.S. and Mexico have solidified their security partnership through the Joint Statement of Understanding between General Guillot and General Trejo," said Maly. "This agreement ensures both nations work side by side, sharing intelligence and conducting coordinated patrols to protect their borders. The dramatic reduction in illegal crossings under Trump's leadership highlights the power of firm and strategic enforcement. The days of weak border policies are over—America's sovereignty stands stronger than ever."

Fox News reported on the Pentagon's announcement regarding coordinated patrols with the Mexican military along the U.S.-Mexico border, which is part of the Trump administration's border security strategy. According to Fox News, U.S. and Mexican generals met to discuss security cooperation, leading to a Joint Statement of Understanding that emphasizes respect for national sovereignty and aims to enhance security on both sides of the border. Since President Trump took office, border apprehensions have decreased, and average border "gotaways" have dropped by 93% compared to numbers under the Biden administration.

In a February 19 press release on the Department of Defense website, Chief of Staff Joseph Kasper said that General Gregory M. Guillot, Commander of U.S. Northern Command, and General Ricardo Trevilla Trejo, Secretary of National Defense of Mexico (Defensa), recently met to discuss cooperation on security along the Mexico-U.S. border. The engagement resulted in the formulation and signing of a Joint Statement of Understanding regarding cooperative activities along the border. Trevilla and Guillot agreed to conduct coordinated patrols on their respective sides of the border, increase information sharing, and establish methods for immediate communications.

Maly is also noted as being first elected as Chairman of the Dane County Republicans in 2023. According to the organization's website, he is focused on boosting Republican voter turnout, growing the Party’s membership, and communicating its positions on issues relevant to Dane County voters.
