The Middleton-Cross Plains Area School District Board of Education meeting on February 24, 2025, began with Superintendent Dr. Dana Monogue's report. She congratulated the MHS Boys Swim and Dive team for their third consecutive state championship win and announced that they would be honored at the March 3 Board meeting. Dr. Monogue also informed about the annual Country Breakfast by MHS Choral Arts scheduled for March 2.

A presentation on Career and Technical Education (CTE) was delivered by CTE Coordinator Dave Thomas, Associate Principal Ray Rosing, Principal Ken Metz, and Director Jan Chynoweth. They highlighted the program's role in preparing students for immediate employment, further education with marketable skills, or work while continuing education. Five students shared how the CTE program helped them find careers.

Dr. Monogue provided an update on the Strategy Map Quarter 2 progress focusing on Students, Staff, and Community pillars. The district aims to achieve 85% reading proficiency by 2025-2026 across key grade levels. Current data shows a significant number of K-3 students require Personal Reading Plans (PRPs). Initiatives include literacy screenings and professional development for educators.

For staff diversity and retention goals, the district plans to increase BIPOC teachers to 7% by 2024-2025 while maintaining a high retention rate. Compensation models are being developed with input from various committees.

Community efforts focus on safety, sustainability, and engagement with approved capital improvement plans and ongoing training programs. The district has postponed its 4K program evaluation pending accurate census data but is exploring artificial intelligence solutions.

Assistant Superintendent Jerrud Rossing sought approval for budget amendments for the year 2024-25 which were approved by the board. A first reading of Board Policy I-D.4 regarding board salaries was reviewed but tabled for later consideration.
