Middleton High School has announced that 22 of its seniors have achieved the status of Finalists in the 70th annual National Merit Scholarship Program. This recognition places them among over 15,000 Finalists nationwide.
The students recognized from Middleton High School are Huda Baloch, Annika Batt, Ethan Bo, Arya Choudhury, Eunice Chung, Benjamin Dyar, Raymond Feinberg, Arya Girirajan, Harry Jin, Eun-Ho Lee, Jesse Mai, Akshay Manna, Abhinav Mundas, Venkat Peddinti, Nikhil Quintin, Aydin Rosas, Bodi Russo, Ethan Sanders, Jonathan Schecher, Raghvi Sethi, Li Ying and Zoey Zinger.
In a previous announcement in September by Middleton High School it was noted that they had the highest number of Semifinalists among 120 Wisconsin high schools with Semifinalists this year.
Dr. Dana Monogue who is the Superintendent of Middleton-Cross Plains Area School District expressed her admiration for these students saying: "We’re so impressed by our 22 National Merit Scholarship Finalists. Their commitment to academic excellence and their leadership set strong examples for their peers. As we get closer to graduation we are excited to hear more about the next chapters in their academic journeys."
To reach Finalist standing these students submitted detailed applications that highlighted their academic records extracurricular activities leadership experiences and honors. Typically around 95% of Semifinalists advance to become Finalists with approximately half receiving a National Merit Scholarship. Nearly $26 million in scholarship funds will be distributed through about 6 870 scholarships available.
Middleton High School Principal Peg Shoemaker also shared her pride stating: "Our high school and our entire community are proud of these seniors’ outstanding accomplishments. They made the most of the opportunities available in our District and their dedication to learning is inspiring. We look forward to learning about their post-high school plans."
Scholarships will be awarded later this month continuing through July with awards ranging from $2 500 to $10 000 across four types including National Merit Scholarships corporate-sponsored merit scholarships corporate-sponsored special scholarships and college-sponsored merit scholarships.
The National Merit Scholarship Corporation established in 1955 conducts this annual competition aimed at honoring scholastic talent across the nation encouraging students to develop their abilities fully.
