Middleton High School has achieved the highest ACT composite score among public, non-charter schools in Dane County and ranks second statewide in Wisconsin for 2025. The school’s average ACT composite score is 24.0, according to data released by the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction (DPI) on September 25.

Superintendent Dr. Dana Monogue commented on the achievement: “We have a strong foundation of academic excellence at Middleton High School, and this data confirms that we remain on the right track. The test scores also reflect the commitment of our outstanding teachers, staff, students, and families to maintaining our school’s tradition of excellence. We are grateful for our educators’ tremendous support of our students and for our administration’s focus on the right work.”

The DPI’s WISEdash Public Portal provides full assessment data from standardized tests administered during the 2024-2025 school year.

ACT composite scores are calculated as an average of a student’s English, math, and reading test results.

Dr. Jan Chynoweth, Assistant Superintendent of Teaching and Learning at MCPASD, said: “Our teachers play significant roles in helping students prepare for standardized exams as well as working to engage students in meaningful learning every day. We empower our educators to best support our students, and it’s rewarding to see this data and know the extraordinary impact our teachers and staff are making in our students’ lives.”

The district has recently implemented A Cardinal’s Journey, a framework designed to help students build skills and mindsets needed for academic success and future preparedness.

Middleton High School Principal Bobbie Reinhart stated: “As our students prepare for graduation and their post-high school journeys, these test scores are strong indicators that our students will continue to achieve excellence in college and beyond. While we celebrate these results, we know there’s always room for growth. We remain committed to fostering a learning environment where all our students are empowered to grow into the best version of themselves.”
