On Sunday, March 30, a Metro operator was assaulted while on duty. In light of this incident, Metro Transit staff expressed their stance that "violence against Metro or other City employees is completely unacceptable."

Metro Transit is looking into the incident, reviewing current policies, and plans to implement any necessary changes to improve driver safety. An incident review board will be formed, comprising drivers, supervisors, and union representatives, to assess the situation. This board will ensure that all appropriate actions are taken, all protocols are adhered to, identify what went wrong, and what preventive measures can be implemented.

The findings from the committee will be disseminated among the driving staff and will be integrated into new and refresher driver training courses. The organization emphasized that eliminating such incidents and safeguarding the well-being of drivers and passengers remains their top priority.
