Students at the University of Wisconsin-Madison have been invited to participate in upcoming community conversations to help shape the university's future. This initiative, outlined in a message from Provost Charles Isbell, Jr. and Lauren Papp, associate dean for research in the School of Human Ecology, aims to engage the campus community in the development of the university's next strategic framework.

The invitation comes as the university's Visioning Committee, convened by Chancellor Mnookin, has been working on initial concepts for the strategic framework. "Over the past few months, a Visioning Committee... has been creating initial concepts to inform recommendations for the university’s next strategic framework," the message states. Students are encouraged to join in-person discussions to provide feedback on these ideas.

The importance of strategic planning is underscored by the ongoing uncertainties facing higher education. Despite challenges, "our deep belief in the importance of our mission means it is critical that we plan strategically for our future," the message continues.

Two community conversations specifically for students are scheduled for mid-April. These sessions do not require any special skills or knowledge. Participants will have the chance to engage in discussions around the presented concepts and offer feedback both in groups and individually. Snacks and door prizes will be provided during the events.

Interested students are urged to register early due to limited space. The goal is to create an inclusive platform for students to share their experiences and perspectives. "We hope you’ll join us in this unique opportunity to help envision the future of UW–Madison," Isbell and Papp express in their closing remarks.

Students and other campus members are invited to take part in this strategic planning process as the university seeks input on shaping its future direction. Feedback from these conversations will be pivotal in informing the Visioning Committee's recommendations.

The university’s commitment to considering its strategic future is evident in this initiative, aiming to include voices from across the campus community.

"Thank you for your participation and continued dedication to UW–Madison," the message concludes.

On, Wisconsin!
