Without much snowfall this past winter, the City of Madison's Building Inspection Division saw a notable decrease in snow removal complaints compared to the previous year.

From October 1, 2024, to March 31, 2025, the city received 553 snow removal complaints from residents, a decrease from the 866 complaints registered during the same period the previous year. Out of the 553 complaints, 182 cases led to citations and fines for the property owners involved. This compared to a total of 325 citations issued in the 2023-2024 winter season.

The reduction in complaints is largely attributed to significantly less snowfall this winter. The city recorded approximately 22.1 inches of snow from October 1, 2024, to March 31, 2025, which is over 15 inches less than the snowfall recorded in the same timeframe in the previous year.
