Madison College will hold its 2025 spring commencement ceremony on Friday, May 16, at the Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Madison. The event will celebrate the achievements of over 2,100 students who will earn diplomas and degrees in various fields, including nursing, university transfer, and emergency medical technicians.
Shane Funmaker, a student at Madison College, expressed excitement about receiving his diploma. "It's important to me to be a role model for my nieces and nephews," he said. Funmaker, who is a University Transfer social science student, plans to attend law school with a focus on Indigenous policy and law.
Ruiqi Zeng, another graduating student, also looks forward to sharing her success with friends and family at the ceremony. "Attending the graduation ceremony is important to me because I have worked hard to get to this point, and I want to celebrate my achievements with the people who have supported me along the way," Zeng said. She intends to work as a nursing assistant before transferring to a university to complete her biology degree and become a physician assistant.
The commencement will take place from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., with free parking available at 1919 Alliant Energy Center Way. The ceremony is expected to attract a diverse group of graduates, ranging from teenagers to individuals in their fifties and sixties, with the majority aged 18 to 29.
Madison College invites family and friends to join in the celebration of this significant milestone in the students' lives. The college emphasizes the importance of community support in the educational journey and encourages attendees to honor the graduates' perseverance and achievements.
