The City of Madison has allocated funds for 17 youth-driven projects aimed at tackling climate change and encouraging grassroots community participation. This initiative is part of the second series of efforts to advance innovation within the green economy. Some projects include developing community gardens, educating students on bicycle maintenance, and curbing food waste.

These projects fall under Bloomberg Philanthropies’ Youth Climate Action Fund. The initiative offers technical support and financial backing to engage thousands of young people aged 15 to 24 in creating and executing vital climate solutions worldwide.

Madison joined this Fund in 2024, initially receiving $50,000 to support eight youth-led climate projects aligned with the City’s Sustainability Plan. These early projects varied from restoring effigy mounds to promoting involvement in green careers. Building on 2024's successes, Madison has secured an additional $100,000 this year to expand support for young residents.
