Associate Vice Provost and University Registrar Scott Owczarek has been appointed as the interim vice provost for enrollment management at the University of Wisconsin–Madison. This appointment follows the departure of Derek Kindle, who has taken on a vice president role at the University of Oregon.

Owczarek's new role takes effect immediately. Beth Warner, currently serving as deputy university registrar, will step in as interim university registrar. Provost Charles Isbell expressed his gratitude towards Owczarek, stating, “I’m grateful to Scott for his ongoing leadership and willingness to step into this critical role during this time of transition.”

With over 25 years in higher education, Owczarek has been the university registrar since 2011 and took on the associate vice provost responsibilities in 2020. His experience also includes a stint as interim financial aid director. He is actively involved with the AAU Registrar Board and various national and state associations. Before joining UW–Madison, he worked in registrar offices at Michigan State University and Wayne State University.

The university plans to initiate a nationwide search for a permanent vice provost for enrollment management soon. The Enrollment Management division plays a key role in developing strategies to attract, enroll, support, and graduate students. It encompasses several offices including Admissions and Recruitment, Student Financial Aid, the Registrar's Office, and the Student Success Through Applied Research (SSTAR) Lab.
