There were 8,596 students enrolled in Sun Prairie Area School District in the 2024-25 school year, 2.2% more than the previous year, according to the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction.

Of all the students welcomed in the 2024-25 school year, 52.3% identified themselves as boys, 47.5% as girls, and 0.2% identified themselves as non-binary or did not specify their gender.

Data also shows that most of the students were white, accounting for 53.4% of the Sun Prairie Area School District total enrollment.

Sun Prairie Area School District covers 17 schools within Dane County, with its main office in Sun Prairie.

Among the 17 schools in the district, Sun Prairie High School recorded the highest enrollment of 1,340 students in the 2024-25 school year.

Wisconsin had a student-to-teacher ratio of 14-to-1 in 2025, lower than the national average of 16-to-1, according to Public School Review.
