Maxwell Street Days, a popular shopping event, will take place from July 17 to 20 on State Street in downtown Madison, Wisconsin. The event is organized by the Greater State Street Business Association (GSSBA) and offers a variety of discounts on clothing, jewelry, gifts, artwork, sporting goods, books, and more.
Amy Moore, owner of Little Luxuries, expressed enthusiasm about the event. "We always enjoy connecting with the community as we showcase our unique offerings at reduced prices for this outdoor annual event. It’s also a great way for us to highlight our historical downtown shopping district."
Attendees can expect not only shopping deals but also expanded outdoor café dining experiences, live music, and special activities. Notably, State Street will be closed to bike and bus traffic during the event.
The schedule for Maxwell Street Days is as follows:
- Thursday, July 17: 9 am - 6 pm
- Friday, July 18: 9 am - 6 pm
- Saturday, July 19: 9 am - 6 pm
- Sunday, July 20: 10 am - 5 pm
Additionally, free face painting by Funny Faces will be available at Lisa Link Peace Park on Sunday from noon to 2 pm.
Maxwell Street Days has been an annual tradition since it was founded in 1975 by Martin's clothing store and tailor shop. The event was inspired by Chicago's Maxwell Street market and attracts over 30,000 attendees each year.
Businesses located on State Street or near Capitol Square can join GSSBA to participate in the event.
