The Wisconsin Natural Resources Board (NRB) is set to convene in person for its August meeting, where members will review several proposed rulemaking documents and other agenda items. The meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, August 13, beginning at 8:30 a.m. It will take place in public meeting room G09 of the State Natural Resources Building (GEF 2), located at 101 South Webster Street in Madison.
During this session, the Board plans to address items 1-4 and 7-8 from its published agenda. Among the key topics are requests for approval of Statements of Scope related to various Board Orders concerning wildlife management, beaver management, and fisheries regulations. Specifically, these include proposed changes to chapters NR 10, 11, 16, 19 and 45 as part of the “2025 Wildlife Management Housekeeping rule,” modifications to chapter NR 10 regarding beaver management practices, and updates affecting multiple chapters that would result in minor corrections and clarifications for fishing regulations on both inland and boundary waters.
Additionally, the Board will consider a map correction associated with the approved recommendations for the 2025 deer season.
Beyond regulatory matters, members will receive a report detailing progress on the Biennial Habitat Work Plan. The agenda also includes an informational update about how the final state budget for fiscal years 2025-27 affects operations at the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR), along with an overview focused on trends in off-highway vehicle safety.
Public engagement remains a significant component of NRB meetings. Individuals interested in providing input have until August 6 at 11 a.m. to register their appearance or submit written comments regarding matters before the Board. Both remote testimony via Zoom and in-person appearances are permitted during this session.
Those who wish to follow proceedings but not participate directly can watch a livestream of the meeting on the DNR’s YouTube channel. Details about public participation—including how to register or submit comments—are available through resources provided by the DNR on its website (https://dnr.wisconsin.gov/about/boards/nrb/participate).
