Superintendent Dr. Dana Monogue began the 2025-26 school year by visiting Kromrey Middle School, where she met with student leaders from the Latino Student Union to discuss Hispanic Heritage Month. Students shared their backgrounds and talked about how their role models influence their pride in their heritage.
The Middleton-Cross Plains Area School District (MCPASD) welcomed 80 new teachers, paraeducators, and staff members during its New Educator Induction event in August. New hires participated in team-building activities and met district leaders as they prepared for the academic year.
On September 2, students and staff marked the first day of school with a range of activities tailored to each grade level. The Class of 2026 held a Senior Sunrise event as part of these celebrations.
This year, all MCPASD students are following "A Cardinal’s Journey," a framework designed to prepare them for life after graduation. Staff are working with students on developing key skills such as curiosity, accountability, community orientation, self-awareness, communication, collaboration, critical thinking, problem solving, and adaptability.
All seven elementary schools in the district have introduced new mascot logos following input from staff and parents. Students voted on the final designs for mascots including Elvis the Eagle and Leo the Lion.
Middleton High School hosted a Student Activities Fair on September 9 to introduce nearly 100 clubs and organizations available to students. These include options focused on music, theater, language arts, finance, community service and more.
Middleton Meals Matter—a nonprofit led by Middleton High School students—celebrated its one-year anniversary after collecting over 58,000 pounds of food for those in need during its first year. The group is expanding its work to other high schools within Dane County and across the country.
Homecoming Week was observed at both Middleton High School and Clark Street Community School from September 15-19 under the theme “Under the Sea.” Events included a parade, pep assembly, Hall of Fame induction ceremony, football game and dance.
The district recognized its Technology Services team on International IT Professionals Day for maintaining nearly 9,000 devices throughout MCPASD’s schools.
For International Translation Day on September 30th, MCPASD highlighted its interpreter-translators who support multilingual students and families speaking more than 64 languages at home across the district.
Families are encouraged to use the MCPASD app to stay informed about events and activities at their children’s schools by subscribing to relevant notifications.
The district also announced updated Mission & Vision statements: “We know our students’ stories and build upon their strengths to inspire them locally so they are prepared globally,” with a vision of “Engage. Empower. Evolve.” Both are tied closely to A Cardinal’s Journey initiative.
