Olin-Turville Court and E. Lakeside Street set for resurfacing starting September 9

Starting Monday, September 9, Olin-Turville Court and E. Lakeside Street, east of John Nolen Drive, will close for reconstruction. The purpose of this street project is to resurface the pavement and replace underground utilities.

MADISON, WI – Six young writers from Madison were recognized on Thursday as the winners of Madison Public Library and Forward Madison FC’s third annual WE READ Youth Voices Writing Contest.

New UW-Madison students participate in annual W Project event

Thousands of new freshmen and transfer students gathered at Camp Randall Stadium on Thursday for a crash course on becoming a Badger, culminating in forming a gigantic human “W” on the field. The annual W Project event introduces new students to time-honored UW chants and songs. Students heard from Chancellor Jennifer L. Mnookin, Dean of Students Christina Olstad, Associate Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs Fernie Rodriguez, and Bucky Badger himself. Attendees can also receive a free copy of the new W Project poster when they attend New Student Convocation on Tuesday.

Madison announces open house events for new bus rapid transit line

The City of Madison has announced two upcoming open house events in preparation for the launch of its first Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) line, Metro Rapid Route A. These events will provide community members with an opportunity to preview the new stations and buses, as well as explore features such as level boarding, self-securing wheelchair restraints, and on-board bicycle racks.

UW-Madison hosts annual picnic to welcome new faculty

New UW–Madison faculty members and their families were welcomed by leadership and enjoyed brats and burgers at the annual new faculty picnic hosted by Chancellor Jennifer Mnookin on the grounds of Olin House Wednesday. Many of the faculty members had recently moved to Madison, and they were treated to a nearly perfect summer day.

Street closure announced for Hancock and Wilson intersection

Beginning on Tuesday, September 3, R.G. Huston will be performing storm and sanitary sewer replacement work within the Wilson Street and Hancock Street intersection.
