Monona City - WI issued the following announcement on Oct. 5
On Monday, Oct. 4, Mayor Mary O'Connor proclaimed Oct. 11 as Indigenous Peoples' Day in the City of Monona to honor the invaluable contributions of all Native Americans and commemorate their shared history and culture . The territory where the City of Monona is today was traditionally occupied by the Ho-Chunk Nation since time immemorial, so to help celebrate this day, members of the Ho-Chunk Nation will participate in a flag-raising ceremony at City Hall.
All are welcome to join this Ho-Chunk flag-raising ceremony on Monday, October 11 at 11:00 AM at City Hall.
