Students at the University of Wisconsin–Madison began their first day of classes on September 3, 2025. The start of the academic year marks a period when students engage in new learning opportunities and campus activities.
The university continues to emphasize its connections across the state through various initiatives. According to recent data from the Wisconsin Idea Database, UW–Madison has a broad impact on all 72 counties in Wisconsin, supporting students, communities, health care, and workforce development. More information about this can be found at https://widata.wisc.edu/.
In other developments, UW–Madison’s School of Medicine and Public Health is addressing physician shortages in rural areas with an accelerated program that reduces training time for doctors committed to serving these communities. The program recently celebrated its first graduate.
Additionally, the university’s reputation and supportive campus environment continue to attract top students. One student chose UW–Madison over offers from 15 other colleges due to its academic standing, welcoming community, and financial aid options.
UW–Madison also remains involved in innovative research projects. A recent clinical trial allowed transplant patients to live without daily anti-rejection medication.
