McFarland Village - WI issued the following announcement on Nov. 5
Heartland Ecological Group will be conducting a prescribed burn at Juniper Ridge Eco-Park.
If your property is adjacent the property marked in purple (see map) please move materials/items away from conservancy/parkland.
Fire is a natural process that has shaped natural communities over the centuries. Conducting a prescribed burn in a planned and controlled manner reintroduces a natural process and is an efficient and economical tool that can help control invasive species. Prescribed burns help support the management objectives of Village natural and conservancy areas.
Heartland Ecological staff will monitor smoke on a consistent basis. However, smoke can accumulate in certain areas especially at night and during the early morning hours when it is usually less windy. Residents and visitors are advised to take precautions to minimize smoke impacts to health. People with respiratory problems should use caution when exerting themselves in smoky areas.
The exact date of the burn is dependent upon the dryness of the undercover and weather conditions. It is estimated that the burn will likely be conducted Monday, November 8 and Tuesday, November 9. Rain date will be Monday, November 15 and Tuesday, November 16.
